House Krojanker

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The house Krojanker is a listed building in the city of Burg (near Magdeburg) .

history

House Krojanker was built in 1925 and 1926 as a manufacturer's villa. The Berlin architects Korn und Weitzmann had planned the construction of the house. The building is one of the last still existing buildings by the architectural office. It was the home of the technical director Dr. Gustav Krojanker of the shoe factory Conrad Tack & Cie. He lived there with his family from 1926 to 1929.

After the Second World War, the building was no longer used as a residential building, but as a day-care center. In this context, flat single-storey extensions were built on the garden side in 1959 and 1969. The building has been used as a dormitory for disabled people since 2003.

The building is now a listed building and is listed in the local monument register as a monument under number 094 05679.

location

The building is located at the crossing Breitscheidstraße - Straße der Einheit in Burg.

layout

The Krojanker house is an elongated, cubic structure with two storeys and a flat roof. The exterior is largely determined by the contrast between the lightly plastered wall surfaces and the colored brick strips running horizontally and vertically. In the west, the building is emphasized by a rounded corner, in the east the towering stair tower dominates, which opens up the upper floor and the sun terrace on the roof.

The interior layout is more conventional. The ground floor contains three large representative rooms connected by double doors as well as vestibules and a kitchen with servants' entrance. A small winter garden was added on the south-eastern side of the garden. On the upper floor there are four bedrooms, hallways, a small north-facing balcony and the bathroom.
