House Terrahe (2017)

The Terrahe house is one of the oldest buildings in Vreden . It is under monument protection and is entered in the list of monuments of the city of Vreden . It has been used as a restaurant since it was built in 1857 .

Brief description

The late classicist building at Königstraße 6 is a two-storey rectangular building made of brick with a uniform hipped roof , which was erected after the city fire on August 4, 1857. A distinctive feature is the seven-axis facade facing Königstrasse with a double-leaf front door in the middle position, connected to a four-step access staircase. The regular brick masonry made of truss and stretcher layers is complemented by tall rectangular window openings, the facings of which are plastered and, with their sandstone-colored surface tone, are reminiscent of sandstone embrasures. Together with the base made of sandstone blocks and the regular iron anchors in the masonry, the result is an orderly and typical picture of 19th century building in Münsterland in terms of color and form.

Inside, the building has a tap room and two further dining rooms on the ground floor.

Cellar vault

The cellar vault with four cellar vaults lies under the northeast part of the building and takes up about 40% of the floor space. The vaulted surfaces are largely plastered and, in smaller parts, deliberately without plaster.
