The Zindler house at Himmelgeister Landstrasse 171 in Düsseldorf-Himmelgeist was built in 1967 for Martin Zindler based on designs by Paul Schneider-Esleben .

description

The residential building is an example of brutalism : "With the choice of material [concrete], the disclosure of the construction and the pursuit of volume, it takes up the principles of 'concrete brutalism'". The unplastered concrete ceilings are visible from the outside and enclose the various components. A tall concrete tower protrudes from the concrete building complex. Its shape is reminiscent of a ship's chimney.

The complex was built on a floor plan consisting of different circles - "[he] developed the floor plan from the basic geometric shape of the circle, circles and circle segments with different diameters are pushed against each other and partially penetrate each other". It is also an example of organic architecture ; Esleben's work with curved floor plans goes back to Wright's principles of organic architecture - " Frank Lloyd Wright's works are to be emphasized, which probably also influenced Schneider's Esleben".

The sculptural villa building is located on a plot of land on the Rhine, the different widths of the building complexes were developed on the basis of the golden ratio.
