House on Long Market 20
The house at Langen Markt 20 in Gdansk is a town house built in 1680 with a richly decorated baroque facade on the Long Market .
Architecture and history
The facade is attributed to Andreas Schlüter . The ground floor was clad with studs . The first floor was particularly richly decorated. The second and third floors were connected by Corinthian pilasters in a colossal order. A bird figure with outspread wings in metal sculpture was placed above the gable. The building, which was badly damaged in 1945, was rebuilt in 1953–1954, using the stone elements that were preserved. The house has housed an art gallery since 1990.
