The House of Mathematics (abbreviated: HdMa ) is a science center and museum in Vienna with a focus on mathematics . It is integrated into the Didactics Center for Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the Vienna University of Education .

Foundation and opening

The idea comes from Gerhard Lindbichler (formerly PÄDAK-Vienna) and Manfred Kronfellner (TU-Vienna) in 2000. The HdMa was opened on February 28, 2003 in the premises of a school in Vienna-Wieden. The move to the University of Education in Vienna took place in summer 2009.

Operator, partner and sponsor

Monika Musilek, Monika Miller and Gerhard Lindbichler are responsible for ongoing operations, especially for visits by school classes, private individuals and special dates, as well as for the further or new development of the objects and games on offer. The HdMa partners are the Vienna University of Education and the ScienceCenter Network Association; Sponsor the Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Research .

In the adventure world , children and adults can touch and grasp mathematics at special play tables. In the history of mathematics , historical exhibits can be used to recreate the development of mathematics from the Egyptians to modern mathematics of the 21st century. The concept of feel applies to both areas , which means: (f) research, (e) discover, (e) know, (l) learn.
