House of Arabic Oud

The House of Arabic Oud ( Arabic بيت العود العربي, DMG Bait al-ʿŪd al-ʿarabī ) was founded in Cairo in 1998 by the Iraqi oud player Naseer Shamma . It is the first school to dedicate itself to the oud as a solo instrument and it has branches in Abu Dhabi and Alexandria . Another branch is planned in Constantin , Algeria . The school established the first female oud orchestra with ten players to increase the presence of women in the Arab music world.
