House band

House band or House Band denotes a musical ensemble that occurs regularly and for long periods of time in a particular club (or any other locality, for. Example, in a television broadcast). The house band often had the function of accompanying guest soloists. The term is also applied to bands employed by a record label or studio, such as Booker T. & the MG's for Stax Records . In relation to the contemporary jazz scene , the term is largely obsolete.
