Pet burial

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The pet burial is the burial of a dead animal in a special way that is similar to that of a dead person. The Tierbestattung is already from the prehistory and early history known and originally served cultic purposes.

reasons

The owner of a pet often feels the desire not to anonymously hand over a deceased pet to a rendering plant . He suffers from the postmortem treatment of the dead body of his beloved being and would also like to overcome the pain of loss through the spatial proximity to the deceased animal (" grief work ").

Burial forms

Pets on animal cemeteries in sponsorship of community are buried, while, however, some legal provisions, for reasons of environmental sustainability and environmental protection must be observed.

However, the ashes of a pet can be safely stored and displayed in their own apartment rooms in a closed urn or comparable packaging.

In principle, burial in your own garden is also possible and is not a problem for small animals (hamsters, guinea pigs). For larger animals, an informal application may have to be submitted to the veterinary office. If there is no notifiable animal disease, there is usually nothing against a home burial. However, the exclusion criterion is a water protection area .

Pet cremation and burial at sea

Pets can also be buried on the lake, in a pond, or in a river. The basic requirement is of course individual cremation, i.e. cremation without additional animals. The ashes must also be in a water-soluble urn made of salt or cardboard so that it can dissolve completely.
