Carcass disposal facility

When rendering plants were under applicable until 2005 carcass disposal law the plants for animal waste referred to in which carcasses , animal body parts (offal) and other products for their safe removal was necessary, were eliminated.

In animal carcass disposal facilities, the disposal of was primarily

  1. Bodies of solipeds , cloven-hoofed animals , dogs, cats, poultry, rabbits and precious fur animals that are in the house, business or otherwise in the possession of humans,
  2. Bodies of animals that are kept in zoological gardens or similar facilities as well as in pet shops,
  3. abandoned animal carcasses of the animal species specified in number 1, with the exception of wild game

required.

The operation of an animal carcass disposal facility was subject to strict legal regulations, particularly in terms of animal disease hygiene .

Until the advent of BSE , the animal carcasses were mainly processed into animal meal , which was used as animal feed. Since then, meat and bone meal has generally been burned.

After the Animal Carcass Disposal Act was replaced by the Animal By-Product Disposal Act of 2004, the term animal carcass disposal facility was replaced by the terms processing plant, incineration plant or co-incineration plant. Nevertheless, the existing companies continue to use the old-established name in their naming.
