The headspace analysis (also: headspace analysis ) is a method for determining the concentration of volatile substances of a solution in the vapor above the solution. Among other things, it is used to analyze taste, smell and aroma , but also to determine the alcohol content in the blood. The method uses the property that the partial pressure of a substance from the vapor is proportional to the concentration of the substance in the solution. The analysis of the substances in the vapor is carried out with the help of a gas chromatograph .
