The H eavy E Xpanded M obility T actical T ruck ( HEMTT ) is a supply vehicle of the US Army , which in a big way in the Gulf Wars was used and many in this role older trucks replaced types.

Since 1982, the supplies Oshkosh Truck Corporation in Wisconsin ( USA ) the HEMTT in large numbers to the US Army (original name: H eavy E xpandable M ultipurpose T actical T ruck). The internal model name is M977 A2 Series (formerly M977 Series ). The HEMTT is a strong 4-axle multi-purpose truck built in different versions, which has been the backbone of the Army's supply units since the Gulf Wars.

The add-on crane is a Grove type with a 1.134 ton (2500 lbs) lifting capacity (height 5.79 m (19 feet)).

The military payload in the field is approximately 10 tons (22,000 lbs) for all types. The HEMTT feature a 450 hp paid 8-cylinder two-stroke diesel engine 8V92TA from Detroit Diesel with 12.06 liters. The top speed is 92 km / h (57 mph ), the trucks have a 5-speed automatic with 2-speed reduction and front tandem axles that can be decoupled by compressed air . All-wheel drive (8x8). Tire type and size: Michelin tubeless 16.00 R20.

The range of the vehicle is 640 km (400 miles) with a fuel capacity of 587 liters (155 gallons). The ground clearance is 61 cm (24 inches), the gradeability is 60% with a 10 ton payload. The on-board electrical system is designed for 24 volts. The fording depth of the HEMTT is 1.22 m (48 inches).
