Hegelhaus

The Hegelhaus is a museum in the birthplace of the philosopher Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel in Stuttgart .

The philosopher Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel was born in this house in 1770. He lived in Stuttgart for 18 years and died in Berlin in 1831 .

The house at Eberhardstrasse 53 dates from the 16th century .

In 2019 the museum was temporarily closed for renovation work and is to be reopened in autumn 2020 on the occasion of Hegel's 250th birthday. The permanent exhibition that has been shown since the museum was founded in 1991 is being fundamentally revised.

  • On the ground floor there was an exhibition about Stuttgart in the 18th century, the time of Hegel.
  • An exhibition presented the philosopher's path in life. Hegel's famous beret could also be seen here, as well as his family book .
  • Another room contained a text collage made up of important quotes and editions of his works in various languages.

The Hegel House is part of the Stuttgart City Museum family .
