Holy Cross Chapel in Neudenau

The Holy Cross Chapel in Neudenau in the Heilbronn district in northern Baden-Württemberg was built in 1870 in place of an older chapel that had fallen apart. Since the renovation in 1989, the chapel has been used in particular for Protestant services.

Around 1700 a first chapel was built at the junction of the paths from Neudenau to Allfeld and Höchstberg. This old chapel was partly solidly bricked, partly half- timbered and had a poor foundation. At the instigation of Dean Christophl, a new building on a cross-shaped floor plan was built in 1870 in place of the now dilapidated chapel according to plans by the archbishop's master builder Feederle from Karlsruhe. The building shows elements of classicism and neo-Romanesque , with the arched style predominating. The foundation stone was laid on May 3, 1870, and the chapel was consecrated on May 13, 1873.

Since the renovation in 1989, the chapel belonging to the Archdiocese of Freiburg has been used in particular for Protestant services.
