Holy crowd

Various military elite or special units are referred to as the holy group ( Greek ἱερὸς λόχος hierós lochos ) :

  • In modern Greek history, several military units are referred to as the Holy Company:
    • The holy band of the Greek War of Independence
    • The Cretan Holy Company during the Cretan Uprising (1866–1869);
    • The Cretan Sacred Band of Students who participated in the Balkan Wars as part of the Greek Army ;
    • The Sacred Band (1914) formed during the establishment of the Autonomous Republic of Northern Epirus ;
    • The Holy Band (World War II) , a special unit consisting entirely of officers
