history

The collection was built up from 1900 by Wilhelm Schnitzler, innkeeper and organist. In 1954, it formed the basis for the museum in house Freiheit Nr. 1 in the old village. Since August 2009 it has been located in the premises of the former historic Café Oelmann, which existed from 1907 to 2004. The museum uses the former cafe rooms, bakery, kitchen wing and the flour store on the upper floor.

The exhibits include an old tower clock, a model of the old village, old cameras, an old kitchen, sewing machines from Pfaff and Singer , among others , music chests and tube radios from Loewe , Graetz and other manufacturers, relics of the old Hackert Altbier brewery , an old one Police service bike, woodworking tools, brick-making equipment, and more. They give an insight into everyday life over the past decades.
