The Heimatmuseum in Kirchen (Sieg) is a museum of the Kirchener Heimatverein eV

history

The actual building was built in 1910. Initially, the local history museum (as a home parlor) was housed in the Wehbach district. In 1993 the company moved to the old fire station on Wiesenstrasse in Kirchen. In 2002 and 2003 considerable renovation work was carried out.

Exhibitions

In addition to the history of the individual districts of the Kirchen parish, the members of the Kirchener Heimatverein worked out the design of the museum for the city of Kirchen with a focus on industrial history .

  • The focus is on the history of the two most important plants, the Arnold Jung locomotive factory in the Kirchener Jungenthal (a field railway locomotive with tipping platforms ) and the Friedrichshütte in Wehbach (steel and rolling mill).
  • You can also see workshop equipment and numerous individual devices and tools for agriculture and forestry.
  • New in 2010 is a database created by Klaus Pruß with around 10,000 images.
