The Heinerfest in Darmstadt is one of the largest city center festivals in Germany with around 250 showmen and around 700,000 visitors.

history

The Heinerfest was founded in 1951 during the reconstruction of the city , which was destroyed in the night of the fire from September 11th to 12th, 1944 as a sign of hope and a new joy in life. The name Heinerfest was derived from the nickname "Heiner" for the Darmstadt population.
