Torso in the tower of the parish church of St. Martin Westerstetten , probably shows Heinrich von Westerstetten

Heinrich von Westerstetten (around 1355) was a nobleman from Württemberg who owned goods in Gundremmingen , among other things .

Foundation of a chaplaincy

In 1377 his daughters Agatha, Ursel and Anna founded a chaplaincy called "Magdalenenpfründe zu Westerstetten ". Her late father had already planned this foundation, but was unable to implement it. They had the Magdalen Chapel built, which adjoined the parish church at the time. It served as the burial place of the knights and the noble church lords of Westerstetten. It was demolished in 1462 because it was in disrepair. The chaplaincy was connected to the parish church and the graves were reburied in front of the right side altar in the old church, in the area of today's southern side apse.

When the old church was demolished in 1717, a tombstone was reused to build an oven and was discovered there in 1880 by a bricklayer. The tombstone depicts a clergyman with his head resting on a pillow and his hand holding a chalice. The corresponding torso was found in the Magdalenenkapelle. It is possibly Heinrich von Westerstetten.
