Heinz Hilgers (politician)

Heinz Hilgers (born June 24, 1948 in Dormagen ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 1985 to 1994 he was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia and from 1989 to 1999 and from 2004 to 2009 mayor of the city of Dormagen. Since 1993 he has been President of the German Child Protection Association .

Life

Heinz Hilgers is a graduate in administration (FH). Until 1985 he was head of the Youth Office of the City Frechen . He began his membership in the city council of Dormagen in 1975. Until 1989 he was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in the city council. From 1989 to 1994, Heinz Hilgers was honorary mayor of the city, then full-time mayor until 1999. From 1985 to 1994 he was also a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. From 2004 to 2009 he was again full-time mayor of the city of Dormagen.

On October 17, 2009 he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Dormagen. This makes Heinz Hilgers the third honorary citizen of the city of Dormagen after Paul Wierich and Gustav Geldmacher.

Heinz Hilgers is married and has three sons. He lives with his family in Dormagen.
