Heinz Schmitz (politician)

Heinz Schmitz (actually Heinrich Schmitz , born June 1, 1909 in Cologne , † June 23, 1991 ) was a German CDU politician .

education and profession

Schmitz attended business school, completed a commercial apprenticeship and worked as an independent businessman in the paint and varnish industry.

politics

From 1954 Schmitz acted as chairman of the SME committee of the CDU Rhineland. He was a member of the state party executive from 1954 and from 1956 a member of the advisory board for the commercial sector in the Federal Ministry of Economics. From 1960 he was chairman of the advisory board of the university institutes for medium-sized companies in Cologne / Bonn. From 1956 to 1961 he was a city councilor in Cologne.

Schmitz was from August 15, 1960 to July 23, 1966 and from September 16, 1968 to July 25, 1970 a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . He moved up to the 4th state parliament. He was directly elected to the 5th state parliament for constituency 015 Cologne-Stadt III and moved up again to the 6th state parliament.

Private

Between 1961 and 1964, Schmitz was also involved as a citizen functionary for Cologne sports. He was a member of the Cologne rowing society in 1891 .
