Heldon is a French electronic and progressive rock band.

The group is a project of the musician Richard Pinhas (* 1951), who received his doctorate in philosophy under Jean-François Lyotard , who publishes the music of other projects than Schizo and under his own name. Electronic music in the tradition of Tangerine Dream merges in the music of Heldon with elements of progressive rock to a mixture of its own, in which influences from Robert Fripp and Brian Eno can be recognized as well as those from Philip Glass .

The name of the project comes from the novel The Steel Dream by Norman Spinrad . The American author, who lives in France, later also took part in the recordings of the group, as did Gilles Deleuze , who studied Pinhas, and Maurice Georges Dantec . The numerous guest musicians who can be heard on the Heldon records include members of Magma and the post rock formation Ulan Bator .
