Helen Margaret Newlove, Baroness Newlove (born December 28, 1961 ) has been a member of the House of Lords for the Conservative Party since 2010 .

Life

Helen Newlove, housewife and mother of three daughters, became known to the UK public after her husband, Garry Newlove, was beaten to death by a group of drunk youths in August 2007 after their car was destroyed. She then organized national campaigns such as Community Alcohol Partnerships (CAP) and Newlove Warrington Campaign to control the sale of alcohol to young people in restaurants and supermarkets. She wants to use the campaigns to increase security and coexistence in the residential areas.

On July 14, 2010, after the dissolution of the House of Commons on the so-called Dissolution List , she was raised to the nobility as a Life Peeress with the title Baroness Newlove , of Warrington in the County of Cheshire . She commented on her elevation to the nobility with the words: "I am just an ordinary woman who has been driven into the public eye by a series of terrible circumstances which I would never have wanted with all my heart" ('I am just an ordinary woman , propelled into high profile by a set of horrifying circumstances which I wish with all my heart had never occurred '). Shortly afterwards her introduction ( Introduction ) as a member of the House of Lords followed and joined the faction of the Conservative Party there. In 2011 she became the government commissioner for more active and safer communities.
