Helle Vrønning Dam

Helle Vrønning Dam (born 1962) is a Danish linguist . She teaches as a university professor for translation and interpreting at the Institute for Business Communication at Aarhus University .

Services

In 1990 she completed her master's degree at the Aarhus School of Business with a master's degree in Spanish for specialized purposes, translation and interpreting . Six years later she obtained her doctorate - also at the Aarhus School of Business - with the dissertation Tekstkondensering i foredragstolkning: formula og sproglig analyze på grundlag af spansk-danske tolkninger .

Between 1991 and 1995 she was a research assistant in the Spanish department of the Aarhus School of Business and from 1995 to 2001 she was the contact person for exchange programs between her university and Spain. She also worked at her faculty on a study committee for postgraduate programs and a research committee. In 2004 she was dean of her faculty for a short time between June and September and finally took over the management of the Department of Language and Business Communication from 2005 to 2011.

In her research work, Helle Vrønning Dam deals with topics and questions that are relevant for both translators and interpreters. She is a member of CIUTI and regularly takes part in various conferences and congresses as a guest and speaker. It is also committed to better international cooperation in relation to programs for doctoral students in translation studies.
