The Helsinki Temple

The Helsinki Temple is the 124te Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints , which is in use. The temple is located at Leppäsillantie 3 in Espoo . It has a floor space of 1810 square meters and has two regulation rooms and four sealing rooms. The temple once served the largest temple area in the Church, including Finland, the Baltic States, and all of Russia. It was the last temple dedicated by Gordon B. Hinckley .

The First Presidency announced on April 2, 2000 that a temple would be built in Espoo, near Helsinki , Finland .

On March 29, 2003, a ceremony was held to lay the foundation stone and dedicate the building site. D. Lee Tobler, of the Second Quorum of the Seventy, held the ceremony and proclaimed the consecration prayer on the site.

An open house was held from September 21 to October 7, 2006 to allow the public to tour the temple before it was consecrated. The temple was dedicated on October 22, 2006 by Gordon B. Hinckley . A cultural celebration was held the evening before.
