Henri Poupart-Lafarge

Henri Poupart-Lafarge (born April 10, 1969 in Nancy ) is a French businessman and CEO of the listed Alstom group since February 2016.

He is a graduate of the École polytechnique , École des Ponts ParisTech and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He began his career at the World Bank in Washington, DC in 1992 before joining the French Department of Economy and Finance in 1994 . Henri Poupart-Lafarge joined Alstom in 1998 as Head of Investor Relations and responsible for management control . In 2000 he was appointed Senior Vice President Finance for the Transmission and Distribution Sector , a position he held until the sector was sold in 2004. From 2004 to 2010 he was Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Alstom Group and from 2010 to 2011 President of the Alstom Network Sector and President of the Transport Sector of the Alstom Group. Henri Poupart-Lafarge has been Chairman and CEO of the Alstom Group since February 1, 2016.

On September 27, 2017, the CEOs of Siemens and Alstom, Joe Kaeser and Henri Poupart-Lafarge, announced the merger of the train divisions of both companies, after which Henri Poupart-Lafarge would be the CEO of the new Siemens Alstom group. In May 2019, however, the EU Commission prohibited the merger under antitrust law.
