Henri Salembier

Henri Salembier (* around 1753 in Paris ; † 1820 ) was a French painter, draftsman and ornament engraver. He is considered one of the stylistic pioneers and representatives of Louis-seize .

From around 1770 to 1820 he was active in Paris as a designer of decorative ornaments (e.g. cartouches , arabesques and volutes ). His engravings, which appeared around 1780 under the title Cahier d'Arabesques in around 30 series, were among the most frequently used master works in the second phase of Louis-seize.
