Her Majesty's Medal for Music

Her Majesty's Medal for Music , also known as The Queen's Medal for Music , is a British award that was founded in 2005 and is awarded annually to a person or group of musicians who have a great influence on the musical life of the British nation.
The 75 mm medal was designed by Bethan Williams and is cast in silver. The cost of the medal and the award are financed exclusively by the Queen's private treasury.

Award practice

The nomination process for the award of the medal is carried out by a committee chaired by the Master of the Queen's Music , since 2014 Judith Weir . Other members are Baron Moser , William Lyne , Sir Nicholas Kenyon , Richard Morrison , Sir Humphrey Maud and Michael Berkeley .
