Herakleia Sintike
Herakleia Sintike (lat. Heraclea Sintica ) was an ancient city in Thracian Eastern Macedonia , south of the Strymon . Herakleia has so far only been roughly localized on the basis of coin finds and written sources. The city was near the present-day town of Zervokhori , perhaps also near Neo Petritsi . It was probably made by the Macedonian king Philip II in the 4th century BC. Founded. After the Roman conquest, the city belonged to the Roman province of Macedonia . The city is mentioned by Caesar , Titus Livius , Diodorus and most recently in Synékdemos , a list of the provinces and cities of the Roman Empire, which was briefly renewed under Justinian I , which shows that the city was still inhabited in the 6th century.
