Herbert Komm (born April 23, 1909 ; † 1993 ) was a German lawyer and labor lawyer.

Life

After studying law in Berlin, the Assessor exam in 1936, he worked in the commercial sector. During the Second World War (1939 to 1945) he was drafted into the Wehrmacht for military service and was later taken prisoner by the British in Egypt. There he met Wolfgang Abendroth and others from the Wehrmacht's 999 Penal Division . Together they took part in political training to train people and prepare them for administrative work who, after the defeat of the war, which was already looming, were ready to create a democratic Germany. After the war, the friendship with Wolfgang Abendroth continued. From 1947 Herbert Komm worked at the Wedding District Court, the Berlin Magistrate and the State Labor Court. From 1959 until his retirement he was President of the State Social Court in Berlin. Herbert Komm was president of the International League for Human Rights eV (ILMR) from 1968 to 1974 and was active in the league until 1981.
