The International League for Human Rights e. V. (ILMR) based in Berlin in the House of Democracy and Human Rights is a registered non-profit association that advocates human rights and peace . The association is a member of the international umbrella organizations Association Européenne pour la défense des Droits de l'Homme (AEDH, European Association for the Defense of Human Rights) and Fédération internationale des ligues des droits de l'Homme (FIDH, International Federation of Human Rights Leagues).

The association sees itself as a successor organization to the Bund Neues Vaterland founded in 1914 , which was renamed the German League for Human Rights in 1922 and was banned in 1933. The German League for Human Rights was re-established in 1949 and only had its seat in Berlin, but moved to Munich in 1961. The ILMR was founded on February 13, 1959 in Berlin and sees its work in the spirit of Carl von Ossietzky . In 2014 the ILMR commemorated its 100-year history. The association is based in Berlin .

Political foundations

The association is ideologically and materially independent of state organs, political parties and institutions of a denominational or ideological nature. Active lobbying for the rights of people with disabilities is part of the Disability Policy Committee .
