Herbert Osterbauer (born June 19, 1958 in Breitenau am Steinfeld ) is an Austrian politician (ÖVP) and restaurateur and since 2010 mayor of the district capital Neunkirchen , Lower Austria .

education and profession

After the elementary, secondary and polytechnic school, Osterbauer completed an apprenticeship as a butcher and then successfully passed the master craftsman's examination and the license examination.

politics

Osterbauer has been involved in politics since 1983 and was regional chairman of the Lower Austrian Young Economy from 1989 to 1993. From 1992 he was a member of the local council and was subsequently sworn in as a city councilor for economy and cemetery in 2000. Furthermore, he was club chairman of the ÖVP Neunkirchen from 2003 to 2010.In 2010 he was elected mayor of the district capital Neunkirchen and was confirmed in office in 2015 and 2020. Since 2007 he has been the parish chairman of the ÖVP-Neunkirchen city.

More functions

His profession as a restaurateur and hotelier soon led him to the interest representation of the Chamber of Commerce, where he held various functions from 1985 to 2020. From 1995 to 2015 he was deputy head representative of the Lower Austria hotel industry and a member of the 5 star commission. He was also an expert lay judge at the Labor and Social Court and a member of the Federal Unification Office at the Federal Ministry for Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection.

Private

Osterbauer is married, has three sons and lives in Neunkirchen.
