Herman Charles Bosman (born February 3, 1905 in Kuils River , † October 14, 1951 ) was a South African author and journalist.

He grew up in Johannesburg and wrote his first short stories as a schoolboy. After training as a teacher, Bosman lived for a year in the Groot Marico district in what is now the Northwest Province . During the argument, he shot his stepbrother and was sentenced to death and later to ten years in prison. After his pardon, he went to Europe in 1934 and traveled to London, Paris and Brussels, among others. In London he wrote most of his short stories, which consisted of several volumes. He returned to South Africa at the beginning of World War II. In 1951 he died of a heart attack.

In Groot Marico , the author, who settled most of his stories in this small town in the north-west of South Africa, is now also marketed for tourists.
