Hermann Josef Abs (educational scientist)

Hermann Josef Abs (* 1968 ) is a German educational scientist . He has held the professorship for educational science with a focus on school education at the University of Duisburg-Essen since 2013.

Career

From 1989 to 1995 Abs studied at the universities of Bonn and Freiburg, passed the 1st state examination for teaching at grammar schools in Baden-Württemberg in 1995 in the subjects of education, German and religion and received his doctorate in 2001. From 2002 to 2009 was he worked as a research assistant at the German Institute for International Educational Research (DIPF), Frankfurt am Main and passed the 2nd state examination for teaching at grammar schools in Baden-Württemberg in German and Catholic. Religion also in 2002.

In 2009 he was offered a professorship at the University of Giessen, where he was professor of educational science. In 2013, he accepted a call to the chair of educational science with a focus on school education at the University of Duisburg-Essen.
