Hermann Raster

Hermann Raster (born May 6, 1827 in Zerbst ; † July 24, 1891 in Bad Kudowa ) was a German - American Forty-Eighter , editor, abolitionist and Republican chief of politics, who was mainly due to his career as editor-in-chief of the Illinois State newspaper between 1867 to 1891 became known.

During the Civil War , he was the main American correspondent for newspapers in Berlin, Bremen, Vienna, and other central European cities, and was considered more effective than any other politician in campaigning for the American cause in Germany.
