Hermine Riss born Piller (* 1903 in Vienna ; † 1980) was an Austrian Righteous Among the Nations .

From 1942 to 1945 Hermine Riss hid Regine Heinrich, who was threatened by deportation as a Jew in accordance with the Nuremberg Laws, in her apartment in Vienna- Leopoldstadt . It also temporarily housed two other Jewish victims, Stefanie Zach and Otto Breichenstein, who survived the Nazi era as “U-Boats”. Hermine Riss risked her life with this help, as the accommodation providers of "submarines" were usually sent to concentration camps by the Gestapo .

Yad Vashem , Israel's National Holocaust Memorial, honors saviors and helpers of Jews as “ Righteous Among the Nations ”. Their names will be written on the wall of honor in the Garden of the Righteous at the Yad Vashem Memorial.

She was posthumously named "Righteous Among the Nations" on December 6, 2005. The DÖW and the grandson of the rescued Regine Heinrich campaigned for Hermine Riss's award .
