Herrgottskloster Nördlingen

The Herrgottskloster Nördlingen is a former Carmelite monastery in Nördlingen in Bavaria in the diocese of Augsburg .

history

The monastery consecrated to St. Salvator was founded in 1401 by the city of Nördlingen. The monastery church was consecrated in 1422, the high altar in it dates from 1497. In 1564 the monastery was abandoned during the Reformation . After the abolition, the former monastery church served as a Protestant church and later as a military hospital . Since 1825 the church has been the Catholic parish church of St. Salvator . It was rebuilt in 1826/1829.
