Building

Sacred Heart Chapel with the neo-Gothic altar

The chapel was built in 1893 by Lenz and Lois Raffer and consecrated in 1895. The simple chapel building over a rectangular floor plan with a slightly indented round choir has a steep, shingle-covered gable roof over a hollow. The tower of the chapel is a wooden gable turret with arched sound windows and a curved tent roof crowned by a ball and cross. The side walls are pierced by two arched windows. In the west facade there is a rectangular portal as a church entrance, two small viewing windows, an arched window above the portal and an arched opening in the gable field. In the nave is a high barrel vault over a profiled cornice. The choir has been increased by one level. The flooring consists of black, red and gray stone slabs that are laid in a diamond pattern. The decorative painting was done in 1893 by Josef Weiskopf.

The interior of the chapel is dominated by a neo-Gothic altar with a cimborium-like shrine with a Sacred Heart, flanked by statues of Saints Leopold and Stephanus. In the cafeteria there is a stone cross and six romanized candlesticks. Other furnishings in the chapel include: a chest of drawers with a cupboard and a one-door cupboard from 1895, the wooden prayer stalls, colored prints from the end of the 19th century as Stations of the Cross as well as a Holy Spirit dove, a lecture cross, a standing cross , a statue of the baby Jesus and various votive pictures, two bells in the tower.
