Heraldic fields

As heart spot is in the Heraldry the medium or space 5 (with a nine grant) in the escutcheon respectively. This place is considered a place of honor and is occupied with the most important coat of arms element of the coat of arms. In the case of larger coats of arms, the heart shield is placed on the heart . The fields or places to the right of the heart point (4) are described as right hip point or right heart point, those on the left with left hip point or left heart point (6).

Another explanation, which is based on a division in older literature, explains as follows: If a sign is divided four times, then five spaces are created. Starting at the top with the head of the shield , the place of honor or chest follows below , then the place of the heart in the middle of the coat of arms and in front of the foot of the shield or the foot is the navel point .

The heart point is also named as the middle point. Derived from the last term, a crossing on the heart is the middle crossing .
