The Hessian Institute for Nursing Research (HessIP) is a research institute founded in 2001 by the Hessian universities with nursing courses: the Evangelical University of Darmstadt , the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences and the University of Applied Sciences Fulda .

Founding members of the institute are Christa O. Winter von Lersner (University of Fulda), Eva-Maria Panfil (Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences) and Ulrike Höhmann (Evangelical University of Darmstadt). The institute is managed by an institute council made up of professors from the nursing departments; Ulrike Schulze (Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences) is the managing director. The institute's board of trustees is formed by the presidents of the cooperating universities. This makes strategic and forward-looking decisions that affect the institute.

Together with various cooperation partners, the institute is researching issues from various areas of the health system in Hessen in various projects . Using qualitative and quantitative methods, application-oriented nursing-specific topics are researched and the results are incorporated into nursing practice.

tasks and goals

The institute pursues, among other things, the goals of application-oriented nursing research and further development as well as the academization of nursing , cross-university cooperation between the Evangelical University of Darmstadt, the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences and the University of Applied Sciences, the development and implementation of innovative research ideas and projects, the sustainable safeguarding of results through the development of qualification modules, a participatory approach through the participation of experts from practice and the promotion of young scientists.

The tasks of the institute include the promotion of students (e.g. by providing advice on research questions and participation in research projects) and scientists (supporting doctoral projects, networking with international cooperation and practice partners, support with project applications and in the Research process as well as advice and support for congress contributions and scientific publications).

The day-to-day business is managed by the Institute Council, which includes Ulrike Schulze (managing director), Nina Fleischmann and Ulrike Manz. The board of trustees, which includes Frank Dievernich , Willehad Lanwer and Karim Khakzar , provides advice to the management .
