Karim Khakzar

Karim Khakzar (* 1960 in Stuttgart ) is a German university professor and electrical engineer and has been President of the Fulda University of Applied Sciences since December 2008 .

Life

Khakzar lives and works in Fulda . He studied electrical engineering at the University of Stuttgart and graduated in 1986 with a degree in engineering . In 1991 he received his doctorate in engineering. at the Institute for Network and Systems Theory at the University of Stuttgart. Between 1991 and 1996 he worked for Alcatel in Stuttgart and Brussels before becoming a professor in the Applied Computer Science department at the Fulda University of Applied Sciences in September 1996 . From 2000 to 2004 he was course director of the international master’s course in Electronics Business. From September 2003 to August 2004 he was Dean of the Faculty and has been President of the University of Applied Sciences Fulda since December 2008, having previously been Vice President (2004–2008).

Outside the university he was scientific director of the Institute for Digital Media and Communication GmbH from 1998 to 2004. From 2013 to 2015 he was chairman of the Hessian University Presidia. He has been a member of the cooperative doctorate working group at the HRK since 2016 and HRK Vice President for interfaces in the university system since 2016. In 2018, Khakzar was named “University Manager of the Year” by the weekly newspaper DIE Zeit and CHE .
