Heydar Babaya Salam

Heydar Bābāya Salām ( Azerbaijani :حيدر بابايه سلام, Heydər Babaya Salam , German  "Greetings, Heydar Baba" ) is the best known poetic work of Mohammad Hossein Shahriar (Shahriyar). The work was published in 1954 and is about Shariyar's childhood and the memories of his village Khoshginab near Tabriz , where he grew up. Heydar Bābā is the name of a mountain that faces the village.

In Heydar Bābāya Salām , Shahriyar shows a nostalgia for the simple life in Iranian Azerbaijan before modernization. The poem was particularly popular in Turkey .
