HiCAD is an integrated 2D / 3D CAD system from the manufacturer ISD Software und Systeme GmbH. HiCAD is based on the software core ESM (European Solid Modeller), an in-house development of the company.

Structure and background

The software has a modular structure. Various industry solutions are available: mechanical engineering, steel construction, metal / glass / facade construction, plant construction and sheet metal processing. All industry functions are integrated into the interface and do not have to be started as additional applications. Since all HiCAD modules work with the same data structures, this hybrid technology can be used to implement complex, cross-sector projects.

HiCAD is an integrated system that supports both 2D construction and 3D modeling. The construction method can also be freely chosen between parametric and free or direct construction.

The current version is HiCAD 2020. The new features include significantly improved sketch functionality - indispensable for the creation and modeling of 3D models, the installation of rivets, the expansion of the simulation, welding symbols according to DIN EN ISO 2553, checking of the mirror symmetry when repeating 3D models, the new edging of sketches in sheet metal processing, the new stair configurator based on design variants in steel construction, the test status for steel construction management + BIM (drawing management), the automatic installation of flange screw connections in plant construction and much more.

The interfaces STEP , IGES , CATIA , Parasolid , Acis, DWG , DXF , ISF, DSTV, SDNF, IFC and others are supported.

Areas of application

Areas of application for the software include the following:

  • mechanical engineering
  • steel construction
  • facade
  • Metal construction
  • Sheet metal processing
  • Plant construction
  • PDM / PLM
  • ERP coupling

additions

  • Design variant technology
  • API (Application Programmers Interface) based on .Net technology
  • Tools for the automation of recurring tasks, for simulation, for photo-realistic representation
