Hibernomas are rare, benign tumors with a tendency to grow. The hibernoma is often asymptomatic.

Surgical removal of a hibernoma is recommended, although no malignant changes have been observed. No recurrence has been described after complete removal . Hibernomas are an important differential diagnosis in PET diagnostics , as they usually show a signal behavior similar to that of malignant tumors .
