from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

High Tide were a British progressive rock band formed in 1969.

history

The founding members of High Tide were Tony Hill (guitar, vocals), Simon House (violin, keyboard), Peter Pavli (bass) and Roger Hadden (drums). Her debut album Sea Shanties was released in 1969 and her second album High Tide in 1970 . The albums received good reviews but fell below expectations commercially. While recording a third album in 1970, Roger Hadden fell out after a breakdown and the group broke up.

Denny Gerrard recorded the 1970 album Sinister Morning with High Tide as a backing band .

The duo Hill and House made recordings with the help of a drum machine in the late 1970s, which were only released on CD and vinyl in 1989 under the title Interesting Times .

After House rejoined Hawkwind in 1990 , Hill released two albums that year, Precious Cargo and The Flood , with recordings of High Tide and individual band members from 1970 to 1979. Hill also put together a new band called High Tide, consisting of Tony Hill (guitar, bass), Dave Tomlin (violin, bass) and Drachen Theaker (drums). With various guest musicians, including Peter Pavli and Simon House, they recorded three albums: A Fierce Nature , Ancient Gates and The Reason of Success .

In 2000 the compilation album Open Season was released . High Tide's music has also been released in various progressive rock samplers.
