Hillbilly (magazine)

Hillbilly was a country music magazine founded in 1961 by the Swiss Chuck Steiner . It was the first trade magazine for country music in German.

history

Forerunners were Country Singin 'and Pickin' News and Drifters Roundup , which were published in the 1950s by the Ole Hillbilly Drifters Club for club members. Hillbilly was published four times a year and cost 2 DM / SFr per issue . The editorial team initially consisted of Charles Steiner, Walter Fuchs , Connie "Tex" Hat and E. Reinald Schumann. Richard Weize, among others, later took part . From 1975 Schumann took over the role of editor. The number of copies always remained in the four-digit range.

Hillbilly appeared from 1961 to 1980 in almost unchanged form and scope. On usually 30 to 40 pages there was information from the country scene, record reviews and background reports.
