Cátac is a village in the Peruvian region of Ancash . It is located in the province of Recuay in the district of the same name . In the 2017 census, the population was 2776.

Cátac is located on the right bank of the Río Santa at an altitude of 3540 m in the back of the Santa Valley.
Transport links
- Following the main traffic artery of the Santa Valley you come north via Recuay (9 km) to Huaraz (36 km). To the south the road climbs steadily and after 43 km reaches Laguna Conococha . Here the road leaves the valley that is coming to an end, leads over the Conococha pass ( 4080 m ) and winds the Cordillera Negra down to the coast.
- A mountain road leads up the western slope of the Cordillera Blanca - past the Laguna Querococha - to the Kawish tunnel ( 4516 m ) and from there down the eastern slope of the Cordillera to Chavín ( 3140 m ).
