Hin (Hebrew)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The ancient Hebrew Hin measure is probably based on the round Hin pot that was used in Syria and Palestine . A Hebrew hin corresponds to 6.5 liters, about thirteen times the amount of an Egyptian henu , which was also called Hin, but is not derived from it.

According to Hermann Schelenz, on the other hand, it was 3.3 liters, although the measure was only intended for dry goods.
