Kab (unit)

The Kab , Kabos , also Kaab or Qab, was a Hebrew measure of weight and volume for wine and dry goods in Jerusalem . The measure is already mentioned in the Bible .

  • 1 Kabos = 1/6 quafis = 19.47 kilograms (wheat) corresponded to about 25 liters ( dubious amount, is about ten times )
  • 18 Kabos = 1 epha
  • 1 Kabos = 1 measure (Wiener) = 2 4/5 Seidel
  • 1 Kab / Kabos = 1/6 Seah = 24 chicken egg shells (doubtful measure in Meyer)
  • 1 Seah = 2 Hin = 6 Qab / Kab / Kabos = 24 Log = 661.62 Parisian cubic inches corresponds to 13.123 liters
  • 1 Kab / Qab = 110.32 Parisian cubic inches corresponds to 2.187 liters
