Takanaga started drawing when he was ten. After working for a mail order company for some time and attending a drawing school, she started her career as a cartoonist. She took part in a competition of the Hakusensha publishing house and won a newcomer award. In the following time she worked exclusively for this publisher and published her first work as a professional illustrator in 1996 with the first episode of the manga series Küss mich, Student! .

The final volume appeared shortly after the completion of the 450-page three-volume manga Little Butterfly , which appeared in the Manga magazine Gush at Kaiōsha from 2001 and deals with the love story of a quiet fifteen-year-old with a popular classmate. While Little Butterfly takes on a more serious tone, Kiss Me, Student! comedic. In it, a naive student and an employee fall in love, whose happiness is disturbed by the student's choleric older brother, who has a fatal homophobia, until he finally falls in love with a colleague at his university.

Since 2004, some of the author's works have been reissued by Kaiōsha. However, she also worked for Biblos , Gentōsha and Kadokawa Shoten, among others . Takanaga is currently writing Tyrann in Love and other manga for magazines such as Gush and Asuka Ciel .
