Rescue competition

Obstacle swimming also denotes a discipline in rescue competitions organized by the German Life Saving Society (DLRG). A 70 cm deep obstacle hanging in the water must be submerged in the water. If you swim in a 25 m pool, the net is halfway; in a 50 m pool there are two nets in the water, one at 12.5 m and another at 37.5 m. Depending on the age group, a distance of 50 to 200 meters is covered. The obstacle is usually a red net, the upper edge of which remains on the surface by floating bodies and the lower edge of which is held under water by weights.
